Social anxiety disorder usually lasts for life, but do not lose hope.
Treatment can help to control symptoms and become more confident and comfortable in social situations.

Two types of treatments are most effective drug therapy and psychotherapy called cognitive behavioral therapy.
Both of these treatments are often combined approach for the treatment of social anxiety disorder.

Cognitive behavioral therapy can improve the psychological condition as much as 75 percent in people with social anxiety disorder. This type of therapy is based on the idea that the mind that is in itself determine how to behave or react. This can be done by changing the way of thinking and behaving in a positive way.
In this psychotherapy will learn how to recognize and change negative thoughts about yourself.

Therapy can be done gradually to face the most feared situations.
It is becoming better cope with anxiety and to develop the confidence to be able to deal with it.

Another way is to also to train the ability to communicate, thus gaining comfort and confidence relating to others.

Drug Therapy

Several types of medications can be used to treat social anxiety disorder. However, drugs selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are generally regarded as the treatment of the safest and most effective for persistent symptoms of social anxiety disorder.
SSRIs may be prescribed by a physician, among others:

Paroxetine (Paxil, Paxil CR) 2. Sertraline (Zoloft) 3. Fluvoxamine (Luvox, Luvox CR) 4. Fluoxetine (Prozac, Sarafem, etc.)

Serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRI) drug venlafaxine (Effexor, Effexor XR) can also be used as a first step therapy for social anxiety disorder.

To reduce the risk of side effects, usually the doctor will start therapy at low doses and gradually increase the medication until the full dose.
It could take up to 3 months of treatment.

Other drug options

Doctors may also prescribe other drugs for social anxiety disorder, among others:

Antidepressants May have to try several different antidepressants to find which ones are most effective and have the fewest side effects.

Anti-anxiety One type of anti-anxiety medication that benzodiazepines can reduce anxiety levels. Although often work quickly, these drugs can cause addiction. Therefore, these drugs often are prescribed only for short term use. These drugs can also be soothing.

Beta blockers This drug works by blocking the effects of epinephrine (adrenaline). They can reduce heart rate, blood pressure, palpitations, and trembling voice. Therefore, these drugs may work best when used to control symptoms for certain situations, such as giving a speech. The drug is not recommended for general treatment of social anxiety disorder.

Do not give up if the medication does not work quickly. Advances in therapy may develop over several weeks or months.
Finding the right medication for social anxiety disorder require several trial and error.

Understanding your symptoms and what to expect can help you to manage your social anxiety symptoms, and eventually, eliminate this difficult condition. Just remember, you are not alone and this is something that you don’t have to live with the rest of your life.

For some, social anxiety disorder may fade over time, and medication can be stopped. So do the therapy process with patience, always consult with a doctor and do not forget to pray to God that this abnormality can be immediately eliminated.
