Health & Insurance----Astana Declaration member states agreed on the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC). The Declaration affirms the commitment of OIC member countries to achieve self-sufficiency in the production of drugs and vaccines.
This was conveyed by the Director General of Disease Control and Environmental Health Ministry of Health Tjandra Yoga Aditama, Saturday (10/01/2011).
Declaration agreed at the end of the meeting the Minister of Health Organisation of Islamic Conference (Third Islamic Conference on Minister of Health), in the city of Astana, capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on Saturday (10/01/2011).
Some results of that meeting was Indonesia agreed to host the Meeting of Health Ministers of the OIC to-4 (4th Islamic Conference on Minister of Health), which will be held in 2013. The meeting is held once every two years.
"Indonesia was honored and ready to host the congress to 4 Health Ministers OIC countries in 2013 or later," said Tjandra added.
According to Tjandra, on the last day of the declaration agreed on strengthening cooperation Astana on topics of health, polio eradication in the world, and self-reliance in the production of drugs and vaccines.
Another deal is, efforts to control HIV / AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, and maternal and child health services. The Declaration also agreed health support for the Palestinians and Syrians.
So far Indonesia has control of the last imported case of polio in the year 2005, which resolved in about a year. Biofarma is one of the largest polio vaccine manufacturers in the world.
Tjandra asserted, high commitment from every country in the eradication of polio should continue to be maintained through the polio immunization and the need for continued surveillance of AFP (acute flaccid paralysis) "Cooperation among OIC member countries should be encouraged to continue toward a polio-free world," he said.
